There was Baird's bakery on Weston just near Dennis on the east side of Weston, featured the most yummy Scottish treats. That operated in the 1960s too. If my dad had a good run at the card table at the Legion on a Saturday afternoon, he would stop in there and get some treats for us. Maybe the Pullishy's took over Baird's when it closed.

I remember all three of the Bake Shops. Fantastic breads from the Pulushi family, delicious apple turnovers and custard tarts from the VanderMey family and Scottish fare from Baird's. I haven't tasted anything as good since I was a child.

I remember them all too but especially the Pulushis because on Sat afternoon after the shop closed they would send all the goodies that didn't sell home with my Dad. I don't think they ever charged him, they knew we had five kids and nothing would be wasted!

I believe Baird's moved to a strip mall at top of Weston Road and being Scotish, my family shopped there for years.

The bakery at Weston and Church St. closed in 2019 after 55 years in business. Even though they were a butchery shop, they still sell Scottish pastries.
We went to Baird's every Saturday. Waited in a big line up, it was always busy! I got my wedding cake from there even though I lived in Malton by then. It was decorated with tartan ribbons. Memories!
