Excerpts for the book "The Story of York"
[An account told by Charles McMaster who settled in Mount Dennis prior to W.W. I]
“Loblaws opened their first store in West Toronto in 1919 then they built a store up on Weston Road alongside of English and Mould hardware store. George English and Harold Mould were just apprentices in the plumbing business at that time. When I built my first house on Cordella Avenue they did the plumbing for me. Since then they built the new store at the corner of Glenn valley and Weston Road when Mount Dennis started to progress.”

We also got some things from the sporting goods store on Weston at Eglinton, while my Mom bought her dresses at Elena's, which was run by two sisters.
